Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Prancing Pony Pty Ltd, a Totness South Australia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Dizzy Donkey Cloudy Apple Cider from the Australian marketplace due to suspected secondary fermentation and consequential exploding cans caused by increased Carbon Dioxide production with risks of inadvertent alcohol intoxication, eye damage, increased alcohol concentration and/or laceration, both serious safety hazards.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Apple Cider products are subject to this recall:

  • Dizzy Donkey Cloudy Apple Cider, sold in 4-packs, 24-packs and as part of Mixed 6-packs of 375 ml cans with a batch/lot designation of 14, a best-before date of 1/12/2021 (written as “14BB 01/12/21”) and an APN/EAN of 9347511001326

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Apple Cider products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Australian state of South Australia although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the ACCC, this recall was initiated due to the potential for the Alcoholic Cider products to exceed marked alcohol content and possibility for can to rupture due to a secondary fermentation. Beverage products containing excess alcohol and carbonation may cause illness/injury if consumed. As a result of these reported defects and risks, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Dizzy Donkey Cloudy Apple Cider identified above.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Dizzy Donkey Cloudy Apple Cider products, please do not open nor consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation.
