Among the fifty-three (53) recalls the NHTSA has announced in February 2021, comes news of the following:

Logo - Blue BirdCorp. Micro Bird Inc. (“Micro Bird”), a Fort Valley, Georgia establishment and a subsidiary of Blue Bird has recalled an estimated 564 model year Micro Bird G5 School Buses.

Recall Category: Electrical System – Electric Cabling damaged during installation

NHTSA Safety Notification 21V039000 reports Micro Bird G5 School Buses with electrical wiring routed behind the Driver’s Seat may have been damaged during rivet installation.

According to the NHTSA, if the Electric Cabling is damaged, certain Safety Accessories and/or Warning Lamps may stop working, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results. In addition, a short-circuit may occur due to the damaged Cabling, increasing the risk of a fire, explosion, burns and/or smoke inhalation with consequential life-changing or life-ending results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage, burns, scalds, smoke inhalation and/or respiratory injury and/or internal injuries.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.

Micro Bird will notify registered owners and dealers will provide field modification instructions, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin March 22, 2021. Micro Bird’s designation for this recall is 21-086-WUC.
