Among the thirty-six (36) recalls the NHTSA has announced in February 2021, comes news of the following:
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (“MBUSA”), a Sandy Springs, Georgia establishment and subsidiary of Daimler AG of of Stuttgart, Germany, has recalled an estimated 1,292,258 model year 2016 – 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class, GLA-Class, GLE-Class, GLS-Class, SLC-Class, A-Class, GT-Class, C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, CLS-Class, SL-Class, B-Class, GLB-Class, GLC-Class and G-Class vehicles. Recall Category: Communication, Electrical System – inaccurate vehicle location for emergency services
NHTSA Safety Notification 21V058000 reports the software design of the Communication Module may fail to communicate the correct vehicle location for the emergency call system (eCall) in the event of a crash.
According to the NHTSA, failure of the eCall system may result in emergency responders being dispatched to the wrong location, increasing the risk of injury following a crash.
==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.
Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.

Mercedes-Benz USA will notify registered owners, and the communication module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (“OTA”) update, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin April 6, 2021. Owners may contact MBUSA Customer Service toll-free at 1-877-762-8267 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. No manufacturer’s designation was listed for this recall at press time.
