Among the thirty-six (36) recalls the NHTSA has announced in February 2021, comes news of the following:

Logo - Toyota Motor Engineering & ManufacturingToyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (“Toyota”), a Plano, Texas establishment and subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation, a Toyota City, Japan establishment, has recalled an estimated 1,081 model year 2019 Lexus RX350 and 2021 RX350 vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Fuel System, Gasoline – Transport Hook may damage Fuel Filler Pipe

NHTSA Safety Notification 21V043000 reports the Transport Hook may not have been removed prior to sale. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 301, “Fuel System Integrity.”

Logo - LexusAccording to the NHTSA, during a rear-end crash, the Transport Hook can damage the Fuel Filler Pipe, increasing the risk of a fire, explosion, burns and/or smoke inhalation with consequential life-changing or life-ending results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.

Lexus will notify registered owners, and dealers will inspect and, as necessary, remove the Rear Transport Hook, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin March 29, 2021. Owners may contact Lexus Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-331-4331 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Central Standard Time (“CST”) for more information. Lexus’ designation for this recall is 21LA01.
