Among the thirty-two (32) recalls the NHTSA has announced in February 2021, comes news of the following:

Logo - Daimler Vans USADaimler Vans USA, LLC (“DVUSA”), a Centennial, Colorado establishment and a subsidiary of Daimler AG of Stuttgart, Germany, has recalled an estimated 84,345 model year 2016-2020 Mercedes-Benz Metris and 2019-2020 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Electrical System – Inaccurate vehicle location for emergency services

NHTSA Safety Notification 21V055000 reports the software design of the communication module may fail to communicate the correct vehicle location for the emergency call system (eCall) in the event of a crash.

According to the NHTSA, failure of the recalled vehicle’s eCall system may result in emergency responders being dispatched to the wrong location, increasing the risk and/or severity of injury following a crash, medical emergency, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Logo - Mercedes-Benz==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.

Daimler Vans USA will notify registered owners, and dealers will update the software communication module for the Automatic Emergency Call System, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin April 6, 2021. Owners may contact Daimler Customer Service toll-free at 1-877-762-8267. DVUSA’s designation for this recall is VSXHERMPOS.
