Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Toymate, a Vaucluse, Western Australia establishment, recalls certain Starplay Hippo Pool/Sandpit Toys from the Australian marketplace due to suspected failure to comply with the labelling requirements of Australia’s mandatory standard ‘Consumer Goods (Portable Swimming Pools) Safety Standard 2013’. Specifically, the appropriate warning labels do not appear on the product and pose consequential risks of child submersion, choking and/or drowning, all serious safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Children’s Toys are subject to this recall:

  • StarPlay Hippo Pools/Sandpits, sold with a Toymate SKU of 20002042

==> No barcodes, APNs, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Starplay Hippo Pool/Sandpits reportedly do not comply with the labelling requirements of Australia’s mandatory standard ‘Consumer Goods (Portable Swimming Pools) Safety Standard 2013’.

According to the ACCC, due to these reported defects, parents and other caregivers may not be aware of important safety information about the use of the toy product (for example: “only use under adult supervision”). As a consequence, there is potentially increased risks of child submersion, choking and/or drowning if the play product is not used as intended.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled StarPlay Hippo Pools/Sandpit Toys, please do not use them nor let your child play with or near them. Instead, return them to your closest Toymate store for a full refund or an exchange.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 0-0-0, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat choking and/or drowning.
