Canada/Ottawa: Satau Inc., a Dollard-des-Ormeaux establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of St. Dalfour branded Deluxe Chestnut Spread products from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected glass fragment contamination and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and bowel obstruction, all serious health and safety hazards.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Chestnut Spread products are subject to this recall:

  • St. Dalfour branded Deluxe Chestnut Spread, sold in 225 ml containers, a best-before date code of 2022/JA/16 and a UPC of 0 8438098561 4

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Deluxe Chestnut Spread products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, Satau has recalled certain batch/lots of St. Dalfour branded Deluxe Chestnut Spread products from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected glass fragment contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Chestnut Spread products identified above.

In general, if glass or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled St. Dalfour branded Deluxe Chestnut Spread products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
