US NHTSA Recalls: Keystone Impact Recreational Trailers

Among the forty (40) recalls the NHTSA announced in January 2021, came news of the following:

Logo - Keystone RV CompanyKeystone RV Company, a Goshen, Indiana establishment and a subsidiary of Thor Industries of Elkhart, Indiana has recalled an estimated 309 model year 2019-2020 Impact 26V, 28V, 29V, 311, 317, 330, 332, 343, 351, 359, 367, 415, 3118, 3219 Recreational Trailers equipped with Dometic 3 Burner Cooking Stoves marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Equipment – Stove Saddle Valves may leak gas

NHTSA Safety Notification 21V019000 reports the internal O-ring between the Saddle Valve and the Manifold can experience a propane gas leak.

According to the NHTSA, a gas leak can increase the risk of a fire, explosion, burns and/or smoke inhalation with consequential life-changing or life-ending results.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.

Keystone will notify registered owners, and dealers will remove the existing Manifold Bolts and Manifold Seals and install new seals and bolts, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin March 5, 2021. Owners may contact Keystone Customer Service toll-free at 1-866-425-4369 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. Keystone’s designation for this recall is 21-398.
