Pilot Dezinfekcijas Lidzeklis Hand Disinfectant, sold with an unlisted model designation, a batch/lot of 08.04.2020 and an barcode of 4752215002831

These Hand Disinfectant products were marketed and sold as alcohol-based hand products to be used for cleaning hands when soap and water is not readily available.

No item numbers, best-before date codes, model numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

The type of hazards presented in these recalled Pilot Dezinfekcijas Lidzeklis Hand Disinfectant products include the reported finding that the cleaner contains Methanol (also called “Methyl Alcohol” or “Wood Alcohol”), measured value: seven (7) percent by weight. Methanol is acutely toxic to the central nervous system and to the eyes and poses risks of poisoning, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, blindness and death, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention.

In addition, the recalled Hand Sanitizer products lack the required hazard pictograms and the packaging is not fitted with a child-resistant fastening as is required in all European jurisdictions.

As a direct consequence of these reported defects, the Pilot Dezinfekcijas lidzeklis Hand Disinfectant products lack sufficient information on the toxicity and flammability of the product and people may come to harm when they utilize the product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended use. These products, therefore, do not comply with the requirements of Europe’s Biocidal Products and the EU’s Classification, Labelling and Packaging (“CLP”) Regulations.
