Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: O’Brien’s Wholesale Meats Pty Ltd, an Adelaide, South Australia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of O’Brien’s Leg Ham products from the Australian marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Ham products are subject to this recall:

  • O’Brien’s Full Boneless Leg Ham, sold with use-by dates of 24 March 2021, 1 April 2021 or 6 April 2021 and a batch/lot designation of 20493, 20505 and 20513
  • O’Brien’s Champagne Leg Ham, sold with use-by dates of 1 April 2021 or 6 April 2021 and a batch/lot designation of 20493, 20505 and 20513
  • O’Brien’s Half Leg Ham, sold with use-by dates of 1 April 2021 or 6 April 2021 and a batch/lot designation of 20493, 20505 and 20513
  • O’Brien’s Full Leg Ham, sold with use-by dates of 1 April 2021 or 6 April 2021 and a batch/lot designation of 20493, 20505 and 20513
  • O’Brien’s Half Boneless Leg Ham, sold with use-by dates of 6 April 2021 and a batch/lot designation of 20493, 20505 and 20513
  • O’Brien’s Third Leg Ham, sold with use-by dates of 6 April 2021 and a batch/lot designation of 20493, 20505 and 20513

==> No barcodes, APNs, EANs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Ham products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Australian states of New South Wales, Northern Territory, South Australia and Victoria although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the ACCC, O’Brien’s Wholesale Meats has recalled certain batch/lots of O’Brien’s Leg Ham products from the Australian marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Ham products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Ham products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 0-0-0, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Listeriosis.
