US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Lancaster Foods, LLC, a Jessup, Maryland establishment, recalls multiple batch/lots of processed and packaged Butternut Squash products from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Butternut Squash products are subject to this recall:

  • 16 ounce Autumn Medley, sold with a UPC of 8 13055 01115 6; with the expiration dates of 01/05/21, 01/07/21 or 01/09/21 noted on the bottom scan label. The brand name is Lancaster Foods and the package is a clear plastic tamper-evident clamshell.
  • 12 ounce Butternut Squash Noodles, sold with a UPC of 8 13055 01749 3; with the expiration date of 01/10/21 noted on the bottom scan label. The brand name is Lancaster Foods and the package is a clear plastic tamper-evident clamshell.
  • 12 ounce Butternut Squash Noodles, sold with a UPC of 8 13055 01864 3; with the expiration dates of 01/05/21, 01/08/21, 01/10/21, 01/11/21, 01/12/21, 01/15/21 or 01/17/21 noted on the bottom scan label. The brand name is Lancaster Foods and the package is a clear plastic tamper-evident clamshell.
  • 12 ounce Butternut Squash Noodles, sold with a UPC of 6 88267 17259 5; with the expiration dates of 01/08/21, 01/10/21, 01/12/21, 01/13/21, 01/14/21, 01/15/21 or 01/17/21 noted on the bottom scan label. The brand name is Store Brand and the package is a clear plastic tamper-evident clamshell.
  • 21 ounce Butternut Squash Planks, sold with a UPC of 8 13055 01272 6; with the expiration dates of 01/02/21, 01/08/21, 01/12/21, 01/15/21 or 01/17/21 noted on the bottom scan label. The brand name is Lancaster Foods and the package is a clear plastic tamper-evident clamshell.
  • 20 ounce Squash Noodle Medley, sold with a UPC of 8 13055 01836 0; with the expiration dates of 01/05/21, 01/08/21, 01/13/21, 01/14/21 or 01/16/21 noted on the bottom scan label. The brand name is Lancaster Foods and the package is a clear plastic tamper-evident clamshell.
  • 20 ounce Squash Noodle Medley, sold with a UPC of 6 88267 18585 4; with the expiration dates of 01/03/21, 01/08/21, 01/11/21, 01/17/21, 01/18/21 or 01/19/21 noted on the bottom scan label. The brand name is Store Brand and the package is a clear plastic tamper-evident clamshell.
  • 2.5# Butternut Squash Chunks, sold with a UPC of 8 13055 01596 3; with the expiration dates of 01/04/21, 01/12/21, 01/15/21 or 01/18/21 noted on the bottom scan label. The brand name is Lancaster Foods and the package is a clear plastic tamper-evident clamshell.
  • 20 ounce Butternut Squash Chunks, sold with a UPC of 8 13055 01150 7; with the expiration dates of 01/05/21, 01/08/21, 01/09/21, 01/13/21 or 01/16/21 noted on the bottom scan label. The brand name is Lancaster Foods and the package is a clear plastic tamper-evident clamshell.
  • 24 ounce Butternut Squash Chunks, sold with a UPC of 8 13055 01300 6; with the expiration dates of 01/12/21, 01/13/21 or 01/15/21 noted on the bottom scan label. The brand name is Lancaster Foods and the package is a clear plastic tamper-evident clamshell.
  • 12 ounce Butternut Squash Chunks, sold with a UPC of 8 13055 01391 4; with the expiration dates of 01/04/21, 01/05/21, 01/07/21, 01/11/21, 01/12/21, 01/15/21, 01/17/21 or 01/20/21 noted on the bottom scan labels. The brand name is Lancaster Foods and the package is a clear plastic tamper-evident clamshell.
  • 15 ounce Veggie Rice Blend, sold with a UPC of 8 13055 01014 2; with the expiration dates of 01/07/21 or 01/09/21 noted on the bottom scan labels. The brand name is Lancaster Foods and the package is a stand-up steam pouch with ‘grab & steam’ printed on the header.

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Lancaster Foods branded Butternut Squash products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold under the Lancaster Foods in the US states, regions, districts or territories of Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont and the District of Columbia.

According to the FDA, this recall was initiated due to reported risk of Listeria contamination in the Butternut Squash products identified above. Lancaster Foods has temporarily halted production of these items as all parties continue their investigation into this issue. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Butternut Squash products identified above.

Please note: while these food products may be close to or past their use-by dates, they may be in your freezers or storage chillers. If you have purchased these products during the time period ranging from January 1, 2020 and January 19, 2020, please check your refrigerators, chillers and/or freezers to ensure these food products have not been stored for future consumption. If found, these products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Lancaster Foods branded Butternut Squash products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Butternut Squash products to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
