Recall Category: Exterior Lighting – Front Brake Switch can fail

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V814000 reports the Front Brake Switch can fail due to increased resistance from silicon oxide.

According to the NHTSA, failure of the Front Brake Switch can cause the Brake Light to stay on constantly and/or the Cruise Control System to shut off unexpectedly. Both situations increase the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

In addition, a short-circuit in the Motorcycle’s electrical system while the vehicle is in motion can also increase the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.
