Sunnylife Inflatable Pool Noodle Recall [Australia]

Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Catch.com.au Pty Ltd, a Bentleigh East, Victoria establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Sunnylife branded Unicorn and Crocodile Inflatable Pool Noodles from the Australian marketplace due to suspected failure do not comply with the requirements of Australia’s mandatory standard ‘Consumer Goods (Aquatic Toys) Safety Standard 2020’. Specifically, the appropriate warning labels do not appear on the product.

As a result of this reported defect, the Pool Noodles pose consequential risks of sudden and unexpected swimmer submersion, choking and/or drowning, all serious safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Inflatable Pool Noodles are subject to this recall:

  • Sunnylife Unicorn Inflatable Pool Noodles, sold with an item number of SOPSTIUN
  • Sunnylife Crocodile Inflatable Pool Noodles, sold with an item number of SOPSTICZ

==> No barcodes, APNs, EANs, UPCs, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Inflatable Pool Noodles were known to be marketed, distributed and sold throughout  Australian although it is always possible these assistive swimming products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the product’s, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Sunnylife Unicorn and Crocodile Inflatable Pool Noodles can be found on the Web site above.

According to the ACCC, parents and other caregivers may not be aware of important safety information about the use of the product (example: “only use under adult supervision”). As a consequence, there is potentially an increased risk of drowning if the assistive product is not used as intended.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Inflatable Pool Noodles, please do not use them nor let your child play with them. Instead, immediately deflate the product and using a pair of scissors, cut the Pool Noodles in half to ensure they cannot be inflated or used. Owners should then dispose of the products. Owners will be provided a full refund by Catch.com.au Customer Service.
