US FlagCanada FlagUS/Washington & Canada/Ottawa: Deere & Company, a Moline, Illinois establishment recalls an estimated total 1,880 of Frontier branded Rotary Tillers (approximately 1,740 in the US and approximately 140 in Canada) from the American and Canadian marketplaces due to suspected missing regulatory warning signage on moving parts of the apparatus and consequential risks of laceration, amputation, concussion, bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain John Deere’s Frontier-branded Rotary Tillers for use with Compact Utility Tractors.

  • The brand, “Frontier” and an individual model number of RT1142, RT1149, RT1157, RT1165, RT1173, RT1181, RT3042, RT3042R, RT3049, RT3049R, RT3062, or RT3062R can be found printed on the back of each of the Rotary Tillers.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the product’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Frontier branded Rotary Tillers can be found on the Web site above.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, some PTO drivelines were assembled without the required safety signage. The safety signs demonstrate and draw attention to the associated hazards of machine operation, specifically that an operator or nearby bystander can become entangled if there is contact with the driveline.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled John Deere’s Frontier-branded Rotary Tillers, please do not use them. Instead, kindly contact an authorized John Deere dealer for a free inspection and repair. John Deere is contacting all known (i.e., registered) purchasers directly.

Please note: this is a joint recall from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) and Health Canada (“HCSC”).
