Among the ninety-six (96) recalls the NHTSA announced this past month came news of the following:

Logo - General Motors LLCGeneral Motors LLC (“GM”), a Detroit, Michigan establishment, has recalled an estimated 624,216 model year 2019-2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500, 2021 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe and GMC Yukon XL and 2020-2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 Vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Seat Belts – Front Center Seat Belts may not be secured

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V792000 reports the Seat Belt Brackets may not be secured to the Seat Frame in the front-row center seating position.

According to the NHTSA, if a Seat Belt Brackets is not secured, the Seat Belt may not properly restrain an occupant in the front-row center seat position, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Chevrolet==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.

GM will notify registered owners, and dealers will inspect left-side and right-side Front-Row Center Seat Belt Bracket Attachments and reassemble it correctly as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin February 1, 2021. Owners may contact GMC Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-462-8782 or Chevrolet Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-222-1020 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. GM’s designation for this recall is N202314670.
