Among the ninety-six (96) recalls the NHTSA announced this past month came news of the following:

Logo - Thor Motor Coach ("TMC")Thor Motor Coach (“TMC”), an Elkhart, Indiana establishment has recalled an estimated 940 model year 2018-2019 Hurricane and Windsport Motorhomes marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Equipment – Front Overhead Cabinets may detach

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V804000 reports the Overhead Cabinets located above the driver and front passenger seats may detach and fall onto the seat occupants, possibly causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

According to the NHTSA, a loss of vehicle control can increase the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.

Thor Motor Coach will notify registered owners, and dealers will inspect the Overhead Cabinets, and reinstall them as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin February 5, 2021. Owners may contact TMC Customer Service toll-free at 1-877-855-2867 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. TMC’s designation for this recall is RC000208.
