Among the ninety-six (96) recalls the NHTSA announced this past month came news of the following:

Logo - Ducati North America ("Ducati")Ducati North America (“Ducati”), a Mountain View, California establishment and subsidiary of Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A. of Bologna, Italy., itself a subsidiary of Audi through its Italian subsidiary Lamborghini, with Audi itself owned by the Volkswagen Group, has recalled an estimated 1,072 model year 2018-2021 Scrambler 1100 Motorcycles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Engine and Engine Cooling, Electrical System – Exhaust Valve Cable may contact Battery Wiring

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V781000 reports the Exhaust Valve Cable could contact the Main Positive Battery Wire and potentially short-circuit.

According to the NHTSA, an electrical short-circuit increases the risk of fire, explosion, burns and/or smoke inhalation with consequential life-changing or life-ending results.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.

Ducati will notify registered owners, and dealers will install a new Cable Guide and self-locking Cable Tie to the Exhaust Valve Cable, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin January 25, 2021.

Owners may contact Ducati Customer Service toll-free at 1-888-391-5446 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Pacific Standard Time (“PST”) for more information. Ducati’s designation for this recall is SRV-RCL-20-003.
