Canyon Bakehouse Baked Goods Recall [US]

US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Flowers Foods, Inc., a Thomasville, Georgia establishment, expands its existing recall for certain batch/lots of Canyon Bakehouse branded Mountain White Bread and Canyon Bakehouse branded Everything Bagels from the American marketplace to widen the product’s known distribution and notify additional customers of the reported risk of consuming this product.

The original recall was initiated due to undeclared Gluten, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Canyon Bakehouse branded Baked Goods are subject to this recall:

  • Canyon Bakehouse branded Mountain White Bread, sold with a batch/lot designation of 032220323 and a UPC of 8-53584-00200-3
  • Canyon Bakehouse branded Everything Bagels, sold with a batch/lot designation of 032220316 and a UPC of 8-53584-00221-8

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, the recall was initiated after finished product testing revealed the possible presence of Gluten.

The recalled Canyon Bakehouse branded Baked Goods were initially known to have been marketed, distributed and sold to retail customers in Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah and Wyoming, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

This expanded recall has now identified Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York and Rhode Island as additional states in which these products were known to have been distributed. As stated above, it is possible these food products had wider distribution within the country.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Canyon Bakehouse branded Mountain White Bread and Canyon Bakehouse branded Everything Bagels and could be allergic to their Gluten ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
