Among the ninety-one (91) recalls the NHTSA announced this month comes news of the following:

Logo - Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (“Volkswagen”), a Herndon, Virginia establishment and subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group of Wolfsburg, Germany, has recalled an estimated 2,355 model year 2018-2019 Audi RS5 Coupe Vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Electrical System – Terminal Cover can compromise the vehicle’s 12-volt power supply

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V760000 reports an incorrect Positive Battery Terminal Cover was installed in the recalled vehicles.

According to the NHTSA, in the event of a rear-end crash, the incorrect Terminal Cover can cause the 12-volt Power Supply to be compromised, preventing the vehicle doors from being opened from the outside and/or the Hazard Warning Lights from functioning, increasing risk of serious injury and/or life-changing consequences.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.

Audi will notify registered owners, and dealers will replace the Positive Terminal Cover, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin February 7, 2021. Owners may contact Audi Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-253-2834 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. Audi’s designation for this recall is 27i6.
