Recall Category: Service Brakes, Hydraulic – Parking Brake may apply unexpectedly

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V782000 reports the Collets (internal jaws) for the brass fitting inserts used in the pneumatic Pass-Through Plate may have been damaged during leak testing. As a result, the brass fitting may completely release the Air Brake Line from the pass-through plate while under pressure. If this occurs on the Park Brake Circuit, signal pressure that holds off the mechanical spring in the Park Brake Chambers will be lost allowing the Park Brakes to apply.

According to the NHTSA, if the Park Brakes apply unexpectedly, the driver may lose control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.
