US FlagUS/Washington: CLS Gourmet CL Saigon Food Company, a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania establishment, recalls an estimated 128,841 pounds of various Vietnamese Meat products from the American marketplace due to suspected production without the benefit of federal inspection with consequential risks of bacterial contamination, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Vietnamese Meat items were produced and packaged on dates ranging from April 29, 2020 and December 5, 2020 are subject to this recall, as follows:

  • Raw Chả Sống, Sài Gòn Uncooked Pork Roll with Flavored Fish Sauce, sold in 15-ounce, poly casing packages with the warning, “Keep frozen” on the label.
  • Raw Nem Nướng, Sài Gòn Uncooked Cured Pork Roll with Flavored Fish Sauce, sold in 15-ounce, poly casing packages with the warning, “Keep frozen” on the label.
  • Fully cooked Sài Gòn Chả Lụa Đặc Biệt Số 1, cooked Pork Roll Flavored with Anchovy Flavored Fish Sauce, sold in 15- and 30-ounce, poly casing packages includes “Keep frozen” on the label.
  • Fully cooked Sài Gòn Chả Lụa Đặc Biệt Số 1, cooked Pork Roll Flavored with Anchovy Flavored Fish Sauce, sold in 30-oz., poly casing packages with the warning, “Previously handled frozen for your protection. Refreeze or keep refrigerated” on the label.
  • Fully cooked Sài Gòn Chả Huế Đặc Biệt, cooked Pork Roll Flavored with Anchovy Flavored Fish Sauce, sold in 15- and 30-ounce, poly casing packages with the warning, “Keep Refrigerated”
  • Fully cooked Sài Gòn Chả Huế Đặc Biệt, cooked Pork Roll Flavored with Anchovy Flavored Fish Sauce, sold in 15- and 30-ounce, poly casing packages with the warning, “Previously handled frozen for your protection. Refreeze or keep refrigerated” on the label.
  • Fully cooked Thit Nguội, Sài Gòn, cooked Pork Flavored with Fish Sauce, sold in 15- and 30-ounce, poly casing packages with the warning, “Keep Refrigerated'” on the label.
  • Fully cooked Paté Sài Gòn, Pate Paste with Pork & Pork Liver, sold in 15- and 30-ounce, poly casing packages with the warning, “Keep Refrigerated” on the label.
  • Fully cooked Sài Gòn Chả Chiên, Fry Pork Roll Flavored with Anchovy Flavored Fish Sauce, sold in 15-ounce, saran wrap packages with the warning, “Keep Frozen” on the label.
  • Fully cooked Sài Gòn Chả Bì, cooked Pork Roll & Pork Skin Flavored with Anchovy Flavored Fish Sauce, sold in 15-ounce, poly casing packages with the warning, “Keep Refrigerated” on the label.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, the Meat products subject to recall bear establishment number “Est. 8776” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations US nationwide.

This recall was initiated after various Meat products produced by CL Saigon Food Co. and labeled with the marks of inspection were observed in commerce at a retail market. US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) conducted surveillance at the establishment and confirmed that the firm distributed amenable products without the benefit of inspection. As a direct of this situation, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Vietnamese Meat products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Vietnamese Meat items, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the products to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
