Canada/Ottawa: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”), an Ottawa, Ontario regulatory and food safety authority, certain batch/lots of Robert Waite Bottled Beef and Bottled Chicken from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Clostridium botulinum contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following processed and bottled Beef & Bottled Chicken products are subject to this recall:

  • Robert Waite of Tignish, Prince Edward Island Bottled Beef, sold in 500 mL Mason jars with no label; affected batch/lots: all units sold up to and including November 26, 2020
  • Robert Waite of Tignish, Prince Edward Island Bottled Chicken, sold in 500 mL Mason jars with no label; affected batch/lots: all units sold up to and including November 26, 2020

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled chicken and beef products can be found on the Web site above.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Robert Waite Bottled Beef and Bottled Chicken products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian provinces of Prince Edward Island through classified advertisements in the province’s newspapers although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, it has recalled certain batch/lots of Robert Waite Bottled Beef and Bottled Chicken from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Clostridium botulinum contamination. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled meat and poultry products identified above.

Please note: while these food products may be close to or past their use-by dates, they may be in your freezers or storage chillers. If you have purchased these products during the time period ranging from September 1, 2020 to December 10, 2020, please check your refrigerators, chillers and/or freezers to ensure these food products have not been stored for future consumption. If found, these products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Robert Waite Bottled Beef and Bottled Chicken products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund or discard in household waste.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Botulism.
