Recall Category: Back Over Prevention – Black or frozen Rear View Camera image in apparent contravention of US FMVSS 111

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V716000 reports the Rear View Camera could malfunction during an ignition cycle, leading to a black screen or infotainment system freeze. As such, these vehicles reportedly fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, “Rear Visibility”.

According to the NHTSA, a black or frozen rear view image reduces the driver’s visibility when reversing, increasing the risks of crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.
