Among the eighty (80) recalls the NHTSA has announced this month comes news of the following:

Logo - Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (“Volkswagen”), a Herndon, Virginia establishment and subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group of Wolfsburg, Germany, has recalled an estimated 10,835 model year 2018 Tiguan LWB vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Seat Belts – Front Seat Belt Webbing may tear in a crash, motor vehicle collision or other impact event

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V724000 reports in the event of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event, one or both of the Front Seat Belt’s Webbing may tear.

According to the NHTSA, a torn Seat Belt may not adequately restrain the seat occupant during a motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.

What should you do?
Volkswagen will notify registered owners, and dealers will inspect the Front Seat Belts and replace them as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin January 19, 2021. Owners may contact Volkswagen Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-893-5298 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”). Volkswagen’s designation for this recall is 69BH.
