US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Hy-Vee, Inc., a West Des Moines, Iowa, establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Hy-Vee branded Short Cuts Vegetable Salad Mix products from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Vegetable Salad Mix products are subject to this recall:

  • Hy-Vee Short Cuts Pot Roast Veggie Mix, sold with transparent plastic tubs with a best-if-used-by date of December 3, 2020 and a UPC of 0272083305352
  • Hy-Vee Short Cuts Grill/Oven Ready Veggie Mix, sold with transparent plastic tubs with a best-if-used-by date of December 3, 2020 and a UPC of 0272104105992

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. Additional images of the recalled Hy-Vee branded Vegetable Salad Mix products can be found on the Web site above.

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, Hy-Vee, Inc. has recalled two (2) varieties of its Hy-Vee branded Short Cuts Vegetable Salad Mix products across its eight-state sales region that includes IL, IA, KS, MN, MO, NE, SD, and WI due to suspected contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The potential for contamination was discovered during routine safety sampling at Hy-Vee’s Short Cuts production facility. As a result of this suspected contamination, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Vegetable Salad Mix products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Vegetable Salad Mix products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the salads to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Listeriosis.
