US FlagUS/Washington: Tee Yih Jia (“TYJ”) Food Manufacturing, a Singapore establishment and South Asian Food Inc., a Maspath, New York establishment, recall certain batch/lots of Taza and South Asian Food branded Chicken and Beef Samosas from the American marketplace due to suspected incorrect packaging and consequential undeclared Milk, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Samosas products were produced from November 11, 2019 through November 11, 2020 and are subject to this recall:

  • Taza Chicken Samosas Stuffed Pastry with Seasoned Chicken, sold of 12-ounce packages containing 12 pieces with best-by dates ranging from November 11, 2020 through November 11, 2021
  • Taza Beef Samosas Stuffed Pastry with Seasoned Ground Beef, sold of 12-ounce packages containing 12 pieces with best-by dates ranging from November 11, 2020 through November 11, 2021
  • South Asian Food Beef Samosas Stuffed Pastry with Seasoned Ground Beef, sold of 12-ounce packages containing 12 pieces with best-by dates ranging from November 11, 2020 through November 11, 2021
  • South Asian Food Chicken Samosas Stuffed Pastry with Seasoned Chicken, sold of 12-ounce packages containing 12 pieces with best-by dates ranging from November 11, 2020 through November 11, 2021

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Samosa products can be found on the Web site above.

According to the USDA, the recalled Samosas bear establishment number “EST. 44163” or “P-44163” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were known to have been shipped to distributors in California, New York and Texas.

This recall was initiated after it was reported that certain batch/lots of Taza and South Asian Food branded Chicken and Beef Samosa products actually contain Spring Roll Pastries, a food product that contains Milk as an ingredient.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Taza and South Asian Food branded Chicken or Beef Samosas products and could be allergic to their Milk ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them. Instead, return the product to the retailer, distributor or wholesaler where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.

Please note: while these Samosas may be close to or past their use-by dates, they may be in your freezers or storage chillers. If you have purchased these products during the time period ranging from November 2019 through December 2020, please check your refrigerators, chillers and/or freezers to ensure these food products have not been stored for future consumption. If found, these products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for refund.
