Logo - Kawasaki Motors Corp. USAKawasaki Motors Corp. USA (“Kawasaki”), a Santa Ana, California establishment and a subsidiary of Kawasaki Heavy Industries of Minato, Tokyo, Japan has recalled an estimated 799 model year 2018-2020 Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX, Kawasaki Ninja H2 SXSE, and 2019-2020 Kawasaki Ninja H2 SXSE+ Motorcycles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Power Train, Electrical System – Gear misengagement may cause transmission damage

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V676000 reports In the event of a gear misengagement the engine Electronic Control Unit (“ECU”) programming doesn’t have the capability to suppress high RPM during transmission. If the transmission gears are not properly engaged while shifting into 4th or 5th gear, high engine RPM can cause the output gears of 4th or 5th to fracture when the gears re-engage.

According to the NHTSA, damaged gears and the inability to shift can cause the engine to lock up, increasing the risk of a motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.
