US NHTSA Recalls: Ford Edge, Explorer & Taurus Vehicles

Among the fifty-eight (58) recalls the NHTSA has announced this month comes news of the following:

Logo - Ford Motor CompanyFord Motor Company (“Ford”), a Dearborn, Michigan establishment, has recalled an estimated 15,587 model year 2014-2016 Explorer, 2014-2015 Taurus and 2014 Edge vehicles equipped with 2.0L or 2.3L engines and front wheel drive marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Power Train – Link Shaft Brackets may fracture

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V692000 reports the Support Bracket for the Front drive Axle Halfshaft may fail.

According to the NHTSA, the failed Bracket could result in a loss of Park function which can cause unintended vehicle movement, and loss of motive power while driving which increases the risk of a motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential injury and/or life-changing results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, amputation, concussions, bone fractures and/or internal injuries.

Ford will notify registered owners, and dealers will replace the Link Shaft Bracket, free of charge. Parts are not currently available. Owners will receive an interim notification about the recall beginning November 30, 2020. A second letter will be mailed when parts become available.

Owners may contact Ford Customer Service toll-free at 1-866-436-7332 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”). Ford’s designation for this recall is 20S63.
