US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Fresh Express Inc., a Salinas, California establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Fresh Express Kit Caesar Supreme Salads from the American marketplace due to suspected Escherichia coli (“E.coli”) STEC 026 contamination and consequential risks of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Salad Kits are subject to this recall:

  • Fresh Express Kit Caesar Supreme Salads, sold in 10.5 ounce cello plastic bags with a predominantly purple and green label, a product code of S296, a use-by date code of NOV 8 and a UPC of 0 7127930104 4

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Salad Kits can be found on the Web site above.

==> No manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, Fresh Express has recalled certain batch/lots of Fresh Express Kit Caesar Supreme Salads from the American marketplace due to suspected Escherichia coli (“E.coli”) STEC 026 contamination. The recall was initiated well past the Salad Kit’s printed use-by date in case this product is still in retail stores and/or unconsumed in your home. Due to this suspected bacterial contamination, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Fresh Express Kit Caesar Supreme Salads identified above.

The recalled Salad Kits were known to be distributed primarily in Western and Southwestern US states.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Fresh Express Kit Caesar Supreme Salads, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Salads to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

Please note: while these Salads may be past their use-by dates, they may be in your freezers or storage chillers. If you have purchased any of these Salad products between October 1, 2020 to November 30, 2020, please check your refrigerators, chillers and/or freezers to ensure these food products have not been stored for future consumption. If found, these products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Listeriosis.
