US FlagCanada FlagUS/Washington & Canada/Ottawa: Walker Edison Furniture Company LLC, a Salt Lake City, Utah establishment recalls an estimated total 24,960 of Walker branded Edison Drawer Chests (approximately 24,000 in the US and approximately 960 in Canada, respectively) from the American and Canadian marketplaces due to suspected instability and tip-over and consequential risks of crush injuries, bone fracture, concussion, laceration and property damage, all serious safety hazards.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain Walker Edison Drawer Chest products, as follows:

  • The recalled Drawer Chests are made of wood and either painted white or gray, painted with wood stain or covered in a wood imitation laminate. Each of the recalled Chests have drawers that can be removed and are elevated approximately five inches off the ground with wooden legs.

Although the generic Drawer Chests themselves are not marked, the following model numbers are can be seen printed on their shipping boxes: BR3DMILDRDW (840035320847) and BR3DMILDRSG (840035320854). Spencer 4-Drawer Chests are marked with the following model numbers: BR4DDRCA (842158142443), BR4DDRWH (842158142436), and BR4DDRWT (842158142450).

==> No barcodes, UPCs, NDCs, DINs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, the recalled Drawer Chests are unstable if they are not anchored to the wall, posing serious tip-over and entrapment hazards that may result in death or injuries to children. Due to this defect, the Drawer Chests do not comply with the performance requirements of the US voluntary industry standard ASTM F2057-19.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Walker Edison Drawer Chests, please do not use them. Instead, kindly contact Walker Edison for instructions to dispose of the product and obtain a full refund or free replacement. The company will provide packaging and pre-paid shipping labels so that you can remove the Chest’s Drawer Slides and return them to the firm for a full refund or free replacement Chest.

Please note: this is a joint recall from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) and Health Canada (“HCSC”).
