US NHTSA Recalls: Mercedes-Benz GLExx Vehicles

Among the twenty-one (21) recalls the NHTSA has announced this month comes news of the following:

Logo - Mercedes-Benz USA, LLCMercedes-Benz USA, LLC (“MBUSA”), a Sandy Springs, Georgia establishment and subsidiary of Daimler AG of of Stuttgart, Germany, has recalled an estimated 55,326 model year 2021 AMG GLE53, AMG GLE63, 2020 GLE580, 2020-2021 GLE350 and GLE450 vehicles with five (5) passenger seating vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Seat Belts – Possibly recessed Middle Seat Belt Buckle

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V671000 reports while buckling the Seat Belt, the Middle Seat Belt Buckle could be pushed down into the gap below the seat cushion. If the Buckle can’t be retrieved, the Buckle Latch will be inoperable and unable to restrain an occupant.

According to the NHTSA, an unrestrained occupant has an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash, MVA or other impact event with consequential injury and/or life-changing results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, amputation, concussions, bone fractures and/or internal injuries.

Mercedes-Benz USA will notify registered owners, and dealers will secure the Middle Seat Belt Buckle, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 29, 2020. Owners may contact MBUSA Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-367-6372 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”). No manufacturer’s designation was listed for this recall at press time.
