US NHTSA Recalls: Toyota Highlander Vehicles

Among the sixty-seven (67) recalls the NHTSA has announced this month comes news of the following:

Logo - Toyota Motor Engineering & ManufacturingToyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (“Toyota”), a Plano, Texas establishment and subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation, a Toyota City, Japan establishment, has recalled an estimated 3,121 model year 2020 Toyota Highlander and Toyota Highlander Hybrid vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Air Bags, Seats – Seat Trim can interfere with Air Bag Deployment

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V633000 reports incorrect Seat Trim Covers on one or both of the Front Seats can prevent the Seat-Mounted Side Air Bag from deploying properly.

According to the NHTSA, improper deployment of the Seat-Mounted Side Air Bag increases the risk of injury in the event of a crash, MVA or other impact event with consequential injury and/or life-changing results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions and/or bone fractures.

Toyota will notify registered owners, and dealers will inspect the front seats and replace the seat trim covers as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 13, 2020.

Owners may contact Toyota Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-442-8696 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Central Standard Time (“CST”). Toyota’s designations for this recall are 20TB14 / 20TA14.
