US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Spring: Orca Bay Foods, a Seattle, Washington establishment, recalls approximately 4,450 pounds of Trader Joe’s branded Gluten Free Battered Halibut Fish products from the American marketplace due to undeclared Milk and Wheat, both known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Battered Fish products are subject to this recall:

  • Trader Joe’s branded Gluten Free Battered Halibut Fish, sold in ten (10) ounce retail boxes with a best-if-used-by date of November 5, 2021 with a SKU of 00503822

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Trader Joe’s branded Gluten Free Battered Halibut Fish products can be found on the Web site above.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, NDCs, DINs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, this recall was initiated after it was discovered that the Gluten Free Battered Halibut Fish products containing Milk and Wheat but were marketed, sold and distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of the allergens.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Trader Joe’s branded Gluten Free Battered Halibut Fish products and could be allergic to their Milk and/or Wheat ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
