Canada/Ottawa: National Herring Co., a Montreal, Quebec establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Adar branded Schmaltz Herring Fish in Oil from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Schmaltz Herring Fish are subject to this recall:

  • Adar branded Schmaltz Herring Fish in Oil, sold in 300 gram glass bottles with a batch/lot designation of 20 175, a best-before date code of 20NO28 and a UPC of 0 62451 00128 9

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CFIA, National Herring Co. has recalled certain batch/lots of Adar branded Schmaltz Herring Fish in Oil from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Herring Fish products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
