US FlagCanada FlagUS/Washington & Canada/Ottawa: Specialized Bicycle Components Inc., a Morgan Hill, California establishment recalls an estimated total 39,200 Specialized Bicycle Components branded Sirrus, Sirrus X and Sirrus Sport Bicycles with Alloy Cranks (approximately 36,000 in the US and approximately 3,200 in Canada) from the American and Canadian marketplaces due to component failure and consequential risk of falls, laceration, bone fracture and concussion, all serious health and safety hazards

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain 2019-2020 model year Sirrus, Sirrus X and Sirrus Sport Bicycles.

The recalled Sirrus branded Bicycles were sold in 27 different colors. You can determine if your Sirrus branded Bicycle is part of the recall if the brand by checking to see if the brands, “Sirrus” or “Sirrus X” can be found written on the top tube of the Bicycle and the model name (e.g. “3.0”) is written on the seatstay of the individual Bicycles, as follows:

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, the Crank Arm on the recalled Bicycles can disengage and cause the Bicycle’s rider to lose control, posing fall and injury hazards. As of the date of this recall, Specialized Bicycle Components had received fifty-six (56) reports of Crank Arm disengaging, including seven (7) reports of injuries. One injury involved a torn bicep (upper arm) tendon and the other six (6) were relatively minor injuries, such as lacerations caused by impact with the road surface.
