US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Country Fresh, LLC, a Grand Rapids, Michigan establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Walmart branded Cut Fruit and Fruit Salads from the American marketplace due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Cut Fruit and Fruit Salads are subject to this recall (in alphabetical order):

  • Apple Grape Trays with Carmel, sold in 2 pound 10 ounce packages with best-if-used-by dates of 10/7/2020 and 10/8/2020 with a UPC of 68113118012
  • Cantaloupe Chunks, sold in 10 ounce packages with best-if-used-by dates of 10/3/2020, 10/4/2020 and 10/5/2020 with a UPC of 68113118014

==> No manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, this recall was initiated for packages containing Cut Fruit and packages Fruit Salad products shipped directly to Walmart retail distribution centers and sent to select stores located in AR, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MO, OK and TX after processing machinery at Country Fresh’s production plant tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

The recalled Cut Fruit and Fruit Salads were packaged in a variety of plastic clam shell containers with best-if-used by dates ranging from October 3, 2020 to October 11, 2020 inclusively. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled fruit products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Cut Fruit and Fruit Salads, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Cut Fruit and/or Fruit Salads to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial infection such as Listeriosis.
