Among the eighty-six (86) recalls the NHTSA announced this month comes news of the following:

Logo - Jaguar Land Rover North AmericaJaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (“Land Rover”), a Mahwah, New Jersey establishment and a subsidiary of Tata Motors of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, has recalled an estimated 11,950 model year 2020-2021 Range Rover Sport vehicles equipped with 20-inch, 21-inch, or 22-inch wheels marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Tires, Electrical System – Tire Pressure Monitoring System Software malfunction in apparent contravention of US FMVSS 138

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V585000 reports the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (“TPMS”) recommended pressure has been set incorrectly in the instrument cluster. As a result, the TPMS warning light will not illuminate when tire pressure reaches 25% below the cold inflation pressure stated on the tire placard. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 138, “Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems.”

Logo - Range RoverAccording to the NHTSA, drivers may unknowingly operate the vehicle with low tire pressure, negatively impacting vehicle handling and increasing the risk of a crash, MVA or other impact event with consequential injury and/or life-changing results.

Land Rover will notify registered owners, and dealers will update the instrument cluster software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin November 13, 2020. Owners may contact Land Rover Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-369-1000 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”). Land Rover’s designation for this recall is N494.
