Canada/Ottawa: Happy Planet Foods Inc., a Burnaby, British Columbia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Happy Planet branded Berkeley Butternut Squash Soup and Happy Planet branded Thai Coconut Soup products from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Spoilage and consequential risks of bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following prepared Soup products are subject to this recall:

  • Happy Planet branded Berkeley Butternut Squash Soup, sold in 2 by 832 ml containers with a best-before date codes ranging from 2020OC30 up to and including 2020DE05 with a UPC of 7 79172 61647 9
  • Happy Planet branded Thai Coconut Soup, sold in 2 by 832 ml containers with a best-before date codes ranging from 2020OC28 up to and including 2020DE08 with a UPC of 7 79172 61644 8

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. Please note, the packaging for the recalled Soups may differ slightly from that pictured above.

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CFIA, Happy Planet Foods has recalled certain batch/lots of Happy Planet branded Berkeley Butternut Squash Soups and Happy Planet branded Thai Coconut Soups from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Spoilage. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Soup products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
