US NHTSA Recalls: Firefly Multiplex G9 Control Panels

Among the sixty (60) recalls the NHTSA announced this month comes news of the following:

Logo - Firefly Integrations, LLCFirefly Integrations, LLC, a Middlebury, Indiana establishment, has recalled an estimated 2,682 Multiplex G9 Control Panel units used for controlling equipment and accessories in Motorhomes  and Recreational Vehicles (“RVs”) that were marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Equipment – Electronic Control Center Circuit Board may short out and cause fire

NHTSA Safety Notification 20E058000 reports the recalled Control Panel units can fail if excessive voltage is applied, causing the components on the board to become damaged.

According to the NHTSA, if too much voltage is applied to the unit and the internal circuit board becomes damaged, there would be an increased risk of a fire, burns and smoke inhalation with consequential injury and/or life-changing results.

Firefly has notified the Recreational Vehicle manufacturers that purchased the affected Multiplex Control Panel units and dealers for those RV manufacturers will add an additional circuit module to the existing component board to provide reverse polarity and over-current protection.
