US NHTSA Recalls: Shyft Group Utilimaster Metris Vehicles

Among the fifty-four (54) recalls the NHTSA announced this month comes news of the following:

Logo - The Shyft GroupThe Shyft Group (“Shyft”), formerly known as Spartan Motors, Inc., a Novi, Michigan establishment, has recalled an estimated 5,096 model year 2020 Utilimaster Metris vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Equipment, Tires – Tire and Loading Information incorrect

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V530000 reports the payload capacity shown on the Tire and Loading Information label may be higher than the actual payload capacity of the vehicle.

According to the NHTSA, overloading of the Tires may increase the risk of Tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash, MVA or other impact event with consequential injury and/or life-changing results.

The Shyft Group will notify registered owners and will inspect the vehicles and if the payload values are incorrect, the label will be replaced, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in September 2020.

Owners can contact Shyft Group Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-582-3454 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”). Shyft Group’s designation for this recall is 20-06.
