ALDI Jack ‘N’ Jill Wooden Block Children Toy Recall [Australia]

Australia/Canberra: ALDI Stores, a Prestons, New South Wales establishment and subsidiary of German food conglomerate ALDI Süd recalls certain batch/lots of Jack ‘N’ Jill Wooden Block Children Toys from the Australian marketplace due suspected failure to comply with Australia’s requirements of the mandatory standard ‘Consumer Protection Notice No. 14 of 2003 – Consumer Product Safety Standard: Toys for children up to and including 36 months of age’ and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, magnet ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and bowel obstruction, all serious safety hazards.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Wooden Block Children Toys are subject to this recall:

• ALDI Stores Jack ‘N’ Jill Wooden Block Children Toys, sold with a SKU of 701525 in three (3) configurations:
  • Wooden Farm Blocks
  • Wooden Jungle Blocks
  • Wooden Ocean Blocks

==> No barcodes, APNs, EANs, UPCs, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the ACCC, ALDI Stores has recalled certain batch/lots of Jack ‘N’ Jill Wooden Block Children Toys from the Australian marketplace due to the reported finding that small magnets may detach from the Blocks and, if placed in the mouth and/or swallowed, pose serious risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and bowel obstruction.

Specifically, if a child swallows more than one magnet, the magnets can stick together across the walls of the child’s intestine or other digestive tissue, which can lead to internal injuries and even death. These magnets may need emergency surgical intervention to remove.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Wooden Block Children Toys, please do not use them nor let your children play with or near the Toys. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
