US FlagUS/Washington: MWE Investments, a Columbus, Ohio establishment, recalls an estimated 7,500 Westinghouse Portable Generators from the American marketplace due to suspected fuel leakage and consequential risks of fire, burns, smoke inhalation and property dsmage hazard, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves Westinghouse WGen5300DFv Dual Fuel Portable Generators and Westinghouse iGen4500DF Dual Fuel Inverter Portable Generators with manufacture dates from October 2019 through December 2019. The Dual Fuel Generators can run on either Gasoline or Propane, as follows:

  • The WGen5300DFv Generator model has a bright blue and black metal exterior and has the brand, “Westinghouse” and the model, “WGen5300DFv” printed in white lettering on the control panel on the side of the Generator. Each Generator has a fold-down handle and wheels for portability. Each WGen5300DFv Generator measures about 23.3 inches long by 20 inches wide by 19.29 inches tall, exclusive of its wheels, and weighs approximately 129 pounds.
  • The iGen4500DF Generator model has a bright blue plastic cover and has “Westinghouse iGen4500DF” printed in white lettering on both side panels. Each iGen4500DF Generator measures about 29.7 inches long by 19.7 inches wide by 22 inches tall and weighs approximately 105 pounds.
  • The recalled Generator units will have one (1) of the following serial numbers, which can be found on the unit’s back panel (the “x” characters are specific to individual units):
    • 04511A1019xxxxxxxxx
    • 04511A1219xxxxxxxxx
    • 5311A1219xxxxxxxxx

==> No barcodes, UPCs, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, the recalled Portable Generators can leak fuel, posing a fire and burn hazard when utilizing the product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended use. MWE Investments has received twenty-six (26) reports of fuel leaking from the fuel valve. No fires, injuries, or property damage have been reported.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Portable Generators, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
