US NHTSA Recalls: Kia Stinger Vehicles

Among the forty-eight (48) recalls the NHTSA announced this month comes news of the following:

Logo - Kia Motors AmericaKia Motors America (“Kia”), an Irvine, California establishment and a subsidiary of Kia Motors Corporation of Seoul, South Korea, has recalled an estimated 9,443 model year 2019 Kia Stinger vehicles equipped with 3.3L T-GDI Engines marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Service Brakes, Hydraulic – ABS Unit may cause fire

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V518000 reports while driving, an Engine Compartment fire may occur in the area where the Anti-lock Brake Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (“HECU”) is located.

According to the NHTSA, an Engine Compartment fire can increase the risk of injury or crash, MVA or other impact event with consequential injury and/or life-changing results.

The remedy for this recall is still under development. The recall is expected to begin October 26, 2020. Owners may contact Kia Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-333-4542 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”). Kia’s designation for this recall is SC196.
