Pretty Thai Sweet Chili Sauce Recall [US]


US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Pretty Thai, an Austin, Texas, establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Pretty Thai branded Sweet Chili Sauce from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling/mispackaging and consequential undeclared Peanuts, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Pretty Thai branded Sauce products are subject to this recall:

  • Pretty Thai Sweet Chili Sauce, sold in clear, cylindrical PET plastic bottles with black flip-top caps and clear labels with white print and sold with a batch/lot code of 0772000123

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, DINs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, some bottles of Pretty Thai Sweet Chili Sauce have been discovered to have been filled with Pretty Thai Peanut Sauce, a product that contains the known allergen, Peanuts.

Pretty Thai Peanut Sauce is yellow or gold in color, while Pretty Thai Sweet Chili Sauce is dark red in color. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to Peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the mislabeled product. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Sauce products identified above. The Sauce products were distributed to H-E-B and Central Market stores in Texas from March 19, 2020 to September 8, 2020.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Pretty Thai Sweet Chili Sauce and could be allergic to their Peanut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
