Among the twenty-six (26) recalls the NHTSA announced this month comes news of the following:

Logo - General Motors LLCGeneral Motors LLC (“GM”), a Detroit, Michigan, establishment, has recalled an estimated 7,071 model year 2020 Chevrolet Corvette vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Structure, Electrical System – Hood may inadvertently open

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V489000 reports despite visual and audible warnings, the recalled Chevrolet Corvette vehicles can be driven with the Front Trunk Lid unlatched.

Logo - ChevroletAccording to the NHTSA, an unlatched Hood can open when driving above a certain speed, obstructing the driver’s forward view and increasing the risk of a crash, MVA or other impact event with consequential injury and/or life-changing results.

GM will notify registered owners, and dealers will update the software in the vehicle’s Body Control Module to limit the vehicle speed to twenty-six miles per hour (“26 mph”) when the Hood is not completely closed and latched, free of charge. In addition, the operation of the Hood release on the key fob will be modified to reduce the likelihood of inadvertent Hood release actuations.

Owners also may allow the vehicle to be remedied via an Over-The-Air software update. The recall is expected to begin October 3, 2020. Owners may contact GM Customer Service toll-free at 1-866-522-9559 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”). GM’s designation for this recall is N202311160.
