US NHTSA Recalls: Pittsburgh Automotive Gauge Sets

Among the eighteen (18) recalls the NHTSA announced this month comes news of the following:

Logo - Harbor Freight ToolsHarbor Freight Tools (“Harbor Freight”), a Calabasas, California establishment, has recalled an estimated 22,050 model year Pittsburgh Automotive A/C R134A Manifold Gauge Sets, part number 62707, marketed, sold and delivered in the United States between May 22, 2020 and August 11, 2020.

Recall Category: Equipment – Manifold and Coupler Valve Labels reversed

NHTSA Safety Notification 20E062000 reports the Labels for the High Pressure and Low Pressure Manifold and Coupler Valves may have been swapped, incorrectly stating which way to open or close the valves.

According to the NHTSA, the incorrect Labels may result in the release of pressurized refrigerant, increasing the risk of injury, burns, crash, MVA or other impact event with consequential injury and/or life-changing results.

Harbor Freight will notify registered owners, and send new replacement labels with instructions how to correctly apply them over the original labels. The manufacturer has not yet provided a schedule for recall notification. Owners may contact Harbor Freight Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-444-3353 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Pacific Standard Time (“PST”). No manufacturer’s designation was listed for this recall at press time.
