Babyono branded “Whale” Pablo Silicone Teether Toys, sold with a model designation number of 935/02 and a barcode/EAN of 5901435410394.

The recalled Babyono branded Whale Pablo Silicone Teether Toys are pacifiers/soothers used by teething children to reduce the discomfort of erupting primary teeth. The recalled Silicone Teethers consist of molded flexible material to be placed in the mouth then chewed on, sucked and bitten by a young child.

No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, batch/lot designations, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

The type of hazards presented in these recalled Babyono branded Whale Pablo Silicone Teether Toys include the reported finding that the plastic material can break off and/or be bitten off by the teething child.

As a direct consequence of this reported defect, small fragments of plastic, possibly with sharp edges, can enter the mouth and injure the tongue, palate and/or throat, posing laceration and choking hazards when the Teether is being operated in a reasonable manner expected with its intended use.

In addition, if small plastic fragments are swallowed, they could damage the GI tract and cause internal lacerations and/or intestinal damage and/or bowel blockage in the child, possibly require emergency surgical intervention.

If either or both of these defects occur, it could lead to serious injury to the child using this product.

Due to these defects and their associated risks, these particular Silicone Teether Toys do not comply with the requirements of Europe’s Toy Safety Directive and the relevant European standard EN 71-1.

Consequently, a recall of these Babyono branded Whale Pablo Silicone Teether Toys and a withdrawal of the products from the European marketplace has been ordered.
