US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Wegmans Food Markets, Inc., a Rochester, New York establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Bulk and Bagged Wegmans and Wawona branded Fresh Peaches, as well as in-store produced Bakery Items that contain Fresh Peaches from the American marketplace due to suspected Salmonella Enteritidis contamination and consequential risk of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Fresh Bagged Peaches and Baked Goods containing Peaches are subject to this recall:

The following Fresh Peaches were sold from 6/1/2020 through 8/19/2020:

  • Wegmans Peaches, sold from June 1, 2020 to August 19, 2020 with a UPC of 7789049048
  • Wawona Sweet2Eat Bagged Peaches, sold from June 1, 2020 to August 19, 2020 with a UPC of 3338332200

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

In addition, the following Fresh Peaches were sold from 6/1/2020 through 8/21/2020 and are subject to this recall:

  • Select White Peaches, sold with a SKU of 3314, 4400 or 4401
  • Yellow Peaches, sold with a SKU of 3117, 4037, 4038, 4043, 4044, 4402, 4403 or 4405
  • Organic Peaches, sold with a SKU of 94037, 94038, 94044 or 94402
  • WB Organic 2.5 pound boxes of Peaches, sold with a UPC of 7789050252

Finally, the following Baked Goods were made with the recalled Fresh Peaches and sold from 8/16/2020 through 8/21/2020 (in alphabetical order):

According to the FDA, the recalled Fresh Peaches were supplied to Wegmans by Prima Wawona, a Fresno, California establishment. The company is recalling the Fresh Peaches and Baked Goods made with Fresh Peaches as a precaution in connection with a Salmonella outbreak under investigation by the US Food and Drug Administration and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that is suspected to have caused the illness of more than 60 people in nine states. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Fresh Peaches and Baked Goods made with the recalled Fresh Peaches identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Fresh Peaches and /or Baked Goods made with Fresh Peaches, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the food products to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

Please note: while these food products may be close to or past their use-by dates, they may be in your freezers or storage chillers. If you have purchased these products since July 1, 2020, please check your refrigerators, chillers and/or freezers to ensure these food products have not been stored for future consumption. If found, these products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for refund.
