Canada/Ottawa: Uncle T’s Foods Inc., a Richmond, British Columbia, recalls certain batch/lots of Pengsheng branded Oil Preserved Cabbage Leaf products from the Canadian marketplace due to undeclared Sesame Seeds, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Cabbage Leaf products are subject to this recall:

  • Pengsheng (Chinese characters only) branded Oil Preserved Cabbage Leaf, sold in 450 gram jars; affected batch/lots: all codes where Sesame is not declared on the label with a UPC of 6 922406 898989

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CFIA, Uncle T’s Foods has recalled certain batch/lots of Pengsheng branded Oil Preserved Cabbage Leaf products from the Canadian marketplace due to undeclared Sesame Seeds.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Pengsheng branded Oil Preserved Cabbage Leaf products and could be allergic to their Sesame Seeds ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
