Fred Meyer Cheese Dip & Spread Recall [US]

US FlagUS/Sliver Spring: Fred Meyer, a Cincinnati, Ohio establishment and a subsidiary of The Kroger Company, recalls certain batch/lots of numerous Cheese Dips and Spreads containing Onions from the American marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination and consequential risk of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Cheese Dips and Spreads are subject to this recall:

  • Deli Bacon Chive Jarlsberg Dip, sold with a UPC of 236294-70000
  • Deli Jarlsberg Jalapeno Dip, sold with a UPC of 236293-70000
  • Jarlsberg Cheese Spread, sold with a UPC of 216407-20000
  • Jarlsberg Dip, sold with a UPC of 207201-00000
  • Murray’s Bacon Chive Jarlsberg Dip, sold with a UPC of 207182-00000
  • Murray’s Chads Smoked Gouda Dip, sold with a UPC of 207083-00000
  • Murray’s Jalepeno Jarlsberg Dip, sold with a UPC of 207181-00000
  • Murray’s Southwestern Jarlsberg Dip, sold with a UPC of 207185-00000
  • Pimento Cheese Dip, sold with a UPC of 226481-60000

Logo - Kroger Stores==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, this recall was initiated after Fred Meyer Stores received a notification from Onion 52, a primary ingredient supplier for Onions used in the items identified above, that the company had sourced Onions from Thomson International, Inc., currently subject to a nationwide Onion recall due to suspected Salmonella contamination. This nationwide recall has also been extended into Canada.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Cheese Dips and/or Spreads, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the products to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
